Precision Cleaning for Digital Camera Sensors

TIDDOX Sensor Cleaning Swabs 12mm are designed for the safe cleaning of digital camera sensors, helping remove dust, smudges and fine residue that can appear in photographs as unwanted spots or marks. Manufactured from ultra-soft, lint-free microfibre, each swab is thermally bonded without adhesives to minimise contamination and support reliable cleaning of delicate optical surfaces.

Suitable for cleaning digital camera sensors, including CCD and CMOS sensors commonly found in APS-C cameras. The 12mm swab head is ideally sized for many APS-C sensor formats. The soft microfibre tip gently lifts particles from the sensor surface without scratching the protective glass, while the slim profile provides stable, controlled contact across the sensor surface.

When changing lenses or shooting outdoors, microscopic dust can settle on the camera sensor and appear as dark spots in photographs, particularly at smaller apertures. Regular sensor cleaning helps maintain image clarity and reduces unwanted marks on your photos.

For best results, use a fresh swab for each cleaning pass. If wet cleaning is required, apply 1–2 drops of a suitable sensor cleaning solution to the swab before making a single smooth pass across the sensor. Avoid scrubbing or using a back-and-forth motion, and always clean in a dust-free environment where possible.

Camera Sensor Cleaning Instructions

1. Take a photo of a plain white surface at f/22 or higher to check for dust spots.
2. Ensure your camera battery is fully charged and activate Sensor Cleaning or Mirror Lock-Up mode.
3. Remove loose dust with an air blower.
4. Open a new swab and apply 1–2 drops of sensor cleaning solution to the tip.
5. Wipe across the sensor in one smooth, even motion.
6. Turn the swab over and repeat using the clean side.
7. Discard the swab after use. Never reuse a swab on another sensor
